Welcome to the Glenfarg Community Council Website.

Arngask Parish Church

The village of Glenfarg sits at a height of 130 metres at the head of the glen of the same name. Located at the east end of the Ochil hills, which stretch west towards Dollar and Alloa, the area also encompasses the smaller but growing community of Duncrievie.  This with the outlying steadings and farms bring the population to over 1000.

There are 2 hotels, The Glenfarg Hotel, in the centre of the village and The Bein Inn, two miles north on the road to Perth. Other services are provided by the convenience store on Ladeside, and a garage workshop on Main Street in addition to mobile Bank, Post Office and Library services.
Community Councils have an important role to play as the most local community-based tier of elected representation provided for in statute.
They have a substantial and statutory interest in the planning process and there is legislation in effect that requires Local Authorities to consult community councils on planning applications affecting their area.  The Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976 gives community councils specific powers to object to the granting, renewal or transfer of liquor licences.
The purpose of community councils is to represent a full cross-section of the community and they should not be party political in any way.

Glenfarg Green

Glenfarg Community Council has built up strong links with our local Perth & Kinross Councillors and with Perth & Kinross Council officials.  It also communicates with neighbouring community councils on matters of mutual interest.
It has been actively involved in planning matters over recent years and, in particular, has spent a considerable amount of time with the planning applications for windfarms in the area and the application for a new incinerator facility at Binn Farm.  More local applications, such as that for the redevelopment of the Lomond Hotel site, have also been considered. The Community Council is always keen to hear from any individuals in the community who would be interested in serving as a councillor.
